Guilherme Mendes Resende is an economist, lawyer, and business administrator with a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). With over two decades of a career built between cutting-edge academic research and high-level public management, he is a leading national authority at the intersections of economics, law, and public policy.
He has been a tenured researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) since 2004, and a Full Professor in the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Economics at IDP since 2019. He served as Special Advisor to the Presidency of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) from 2023 to 2025, and as Chief Economist of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) from 2016 to 2023 — Brazil's main antitrust authority.
He has published over 100 papers in Brazil and abroad, with recognition in national and international awards, including the Epainos Prize from the European Regional Science Association, awarded at an international congress.
